Best Hotel for GeckoFest

We’re still right in the thick of summertime here in St. Pete Beach, but that doesn’t mean we’re not already getting excited for one of our Tampa Bay’s heartiest end-of-summer bashes: Gulfport, Florida’s famous GeckoFest!

This free, family-friendly soiree goes down in its 19th edition on Saturday, August 31st, just across Boca Ciega Bay from Sirata Beach Resort. We hope you’ll call our chic hotel home for the occasion while you revel in all the gecko-y goodness!

Gulfport’s GeckoFest

GeckoFest turns Gulfport’s lovely and historic Waterfront District into one big street bash: a party drawing both Tampa Bay locals and out-of-towners in a spirited sendoff to summer (even though, of course, summery weather is really a year-round sort of deal in our neck of the woods). It’ll be taking place from 10 AM to 10 PM on September 1st, and packed with activities from start to finish.

We’re talking live music across three stages, a parade, better than 200 food and arts-and-crafts vendors, kid-focused games, and a whole troupe of fire breathers, jugglers, magicians, balloon artists, and other street performers. There’s also a costume contest as well as the customary GeckoFest street dance-off to help close things out.

This year’s GeckoFest theme is“Gecko's of the Round Table.”  In the legend, the Knights are an order in the service of Arthur, tasked with ensuring the peace of the kingdom and sometimes also charged with leading the quest for the Holy Grail. The Round Table at which they met was created to have no head or foot, representing the equality of all the members.

A blast? You’d better believe it.
