Best Hotel for Holiday Lights in the Garden
Our neck of the woods here at Sirata Beach Resort is about as far from a frozen tundra this time of year (or any time of year) as you can get: a very good reason to come visit us for a subtropical antidote to those wintertime blues, incidentally. But just because we don’t have mountainous snowdrifts, fearsomely icicled eaves, or an abundance of authentic snowmen doesn’t mean St. Pete Beach and its surrounds are lacking in holiday ambience.
A case in point is the Holiday Lights in the Garden, a much-loved annual tradition over at the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo—just a half-hour or so north from Sirata. We definitely recommend taking in this dazzling display, which incorporates more than a million LED lights to kindle some heartwarming North Pole spirit right here on the Florida Gulf Coast.
Holiday Lights in the Garden
Holiday Lights in the Garden kicked off on Friday, November 23rd and runs through Sunday, December 30th, serving as one of greater Tampa Bay’s signature yuletide celebrations. The million-strong luminosity blazes in the garden from 5:30 to 9:30 PM each evening. A new feature this year is the Illuminated Bird Walk, which traces the Florida Botanical Garden’s recently added Wetlands Walkway boardwalk.
Alongside the multitudinous lights, Holiday Lights in the Garden boasts a stupendous centerpiece in the form of a 16-foot-tall Christmas tree richly lit up and bedecked in hundreds of ornaments.
Throw in a busy schedule of live music as well as regular visits from Santa Claus himself, and you’ve got a genuine holiday spectacular in this 100-acre greenspace, owned and run by Pinellas County.
