As a guest here at Sirata Beach Resort here in St. Pete Beach, you certainly aren’t lacking for access to greater Tampa Bay’s waterways: from estuary inlets to the open, glinting deeps of the Gulf of Mexico. One of the most popular boat launches and waterfront hubs is the St. Petersburg Marina, less than a half-hour east of our barrier-island paradise!
Perched alongside the western shores of Tampa Bay, the St. Petersburg Marina maintains more than 600 wet slips (ranging from 28 to 100 feet) and a 500-foot transient dock. There’s a public boat launch here, plus fuel, food and beverage concessions, and bait available; this is an excellent jumping-off point, needless to say, to cast for Tampa Bay’s celebrity gamefish.
For more information on offshore activities at your fingertips as a Sirata Beach Resort guest, check out our blog post about St. Petersburg-area boat cruises and tours and this official St Pete/Clearwater information clearinghouse on the absolutely world-class sport fishing available around these parts, from Tampa Bay flats to the vast Gulf of Mexico.
Downtown St. Petersburg’s myriad attractions are just a stroll away from the marina, but even nearer at hand are the waterfront greenspaces of Demens Landing, Progress Energy, and South Straub parks. History buffs will appreciate the Demens Landing historical marker, set at the place where Russian immigrant Peter Demens—one of the founders of St. Petersburg—installed the city’s first railroad pier.
Just a stone’s throw from the St. Petersburg Marina, meanwhile, is the site of the St. Petersburg Saturday Morning Market, which opened for the season in early October and runs from 9 AM to 2 PM on (you guessed it) Saturdays through late May. (The Williams Park Summer Market takes over during the summertime.)
Also within easy walking distance of the Marina is the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art, which brings the landscapes, animals, and characters of the American West to our corner of the Sunshine State, as well as the internationally acclaimed Dali Museum, one of the landmark cultural attractions in all of Florida.
Whether you’re launching a craft, taking a chartered tour, or simply enjoying the downtown bayside ambience, you’ll have the charms of the St. Petersburg Marina ready to hand when you stay with us here at Sirata Beach Resort, mere steps from St. Pete’s Gulf sands!
