Hotels near MLB Spring Training in St. Pete & Clearwater

If you’re a dyed-in-the-wool fan of America’s Game, now’s a fabulous time to come soak up the sunshine and seaside hospitality available here at Sirata Beach Resort. That’s right: It’s spring-training season once again!

Two Major League Baseball teams in the “Grapefruit League” hold their spring training right here in the St. Pete/Clearwater area, and a whole slew more practice within a couple hours’ drive, so Sirata makes an unbeatable springboard for getting a fun, relaxed, and up-close look at top-caliber players.

The Philadelphia Phillies at Spectrum Field

The Phillies have been spending their springs in Clearwater since the late 1940s, moving into their current home of 7,300-seat Spectrum Field in 2004.

You can check out the Phillies’ spring-training schedule right here. The season kicks off with a game against the University of Tampa Spartans on February 22nd; the Baltimore Orioles on February 24th (the official Spring Training Home Opener); the New York Yankees on February 25th; and the Detroit Tigers on February 27th.

The Toronto Blue Jays at Dunedin Stadium

The Toronto Blue Jays have held their spring training in Dunedin since the team formed back in 1977. Dunedin Stadium, the Jays’ Sunshine State home, has been ranked by Sports Illustrated among the best venues for taking in spring training: For one thing, it’s the smallest stadium used for the purpose, with only 5,509 seats.

The Jays launch spring training against—what do you know?—the Phillies on February 23rd, then play home games against the Tigers on the 25th and the Yankees on the 27th before facing off against the Phillies again on the 28th. Take a gander at their full spring-training itinerary here.

Other Options

The Phillies at Spectrum Field and the Blue Jays at Dunedin Stadium may be your most convenient options for spring-training fun as a guest at the Sirata Beach Resort, but other Grapefruit League action is going down within a still-convenient radius. Our local MLB team, for instance, the Tampa Bay Rays, spend the spring in nearby Port Charlotte, while the New York Yankees are currently in Tampa. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Braves hold spring training in Lake Buena Vista, the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins in Fort Meyers, the Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota, the Detroit Tigers in Lakeland, the Houston Astros in Kissimmee, and the Pittsburgh Pirates in Bradenton.

So come enjoy some old-fashioned bat-and-ball entertainment down here along the sunny Gulf Coast of Florida, and take full advantage of the beachfront luxury available here at Sirata!
