GET YOUR GECKO ON!

Gulfport is a charming and eclectic town that is considered one of Florida’s best-kept secrets. But we just couldn’t fathom keeping such a treasure from you and your family during your visit to St. Pete Beach!

Located just a short, 5-minute drive from St. Pete Beach, Gulfport has dozens of shops, restaurants and an array of picturesque spots to snap your next profile picture in front of. Not to mention, this town also has that that “old Florida charm” that will have you swooning in a matter of seconds. Think brick-paved streets, colorful cottages, quaint shops and Spanish moss hanging from big oak trees.

You won’t find any parking meters or chain restaurants in Gulfport as all of the businesses in the waterfront village are independently owned and operated. This means your experience in this welcoming town will be as unique as ever.

You will, however, find yourself face to face with plenty of charming boutiques and shops offering local art, gifts, home decor, books, bath products, antiques and so much more.  And, there is no shortage of places to eat in Gulfport as there are more than a dozen unique restaurants to choose from!

Whether you’re on a romantic getaway with your honey or your annual summer vacation with your family, Gulfport has a little something for everyone. You can start your day with a delicious breakfast and a relaxing stroll along Shore Boulevard while overlooking the shimmery, Boca Ciega Bay. Then you can head over to the shops to pick up some rare antiques, local art or Florida souvenirs to bring home in your suitcase.

You can even enjoy some free fun by making a whole day out of this town. Enjoy a picnic in one of the town’s adorable parks and then head over to the pier to spend your afternoon fishing and relaxing.

Are you the dancing type? If so, make sure to visit the Gulfport Casino for swing dance lessons, which are scheduled every Wednesday. Then you can head out for evening drinks so you can experience the eclectic restaurants and live entertainment that Gulfport has to offer.

And, if you’re a dog-lover, you’re in luck because Gulfport is one of the most dog-friendly towns you’ll come across. We won’t judge if all you want to do is walk around and pet some pups for the day.

Gulfport also hosts an array of events throughout the year including Geckofest, which is one of Tampa Bay’s most anticipated events of the year. With costume contests, live music, food vendors, crafts, street performers and even a walking parade, Geckofest is Gulfport’s largest event of the year and is dedicated to the town’s unofficial mascot- the Gecko.

All in all, make sure you take some time during your vacation to experience this fascinating collection of restaurants, people and events. We promise you won’t regret it!
